Bradenton man shot, killed after answering his door for unidentified suspect: deputies

Bradenton man shot, killed after answering his door for unidentified suspect: deputies

A man is dead, and a suspect is at large following a shooting at a Bradenton home Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said it was just before 3 p.m. when the suspect came to the victim’s home located off Chatum Light Run. The victim answered the door, and that’s when the suspect opened fire, according to authorities.

Deputies said they found the injured victim at his home. He had been shot twice and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim described what had happened to deputies before later dying from his injuries. The sheriff’s office has not yet released the victim’s name but said he was 54 years old.

Detectives said they believe this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence. They were working Wednesday to collect evidence and identify the suspect.

Anyone who has more information is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011.
