Man injured in early Sunday morning shooting after fight at Charlotte County event

A shooting outside a community event early Sunday led to one man being hospitalized after an argument turned violent, deputies say.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, two men got into an altercation outside an event on the 480 block of Collingswood Boulevard when one of them fired a gun, hitting the other.

The injured man was taken to a hospital, treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, and later released.

Investigators said the incident, reported around 1:30 a.m., appeared to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. An investigation remains ongoing.
