13-year-old Florida girl killed by 15-year-old in ‘accidental’ Christmas Day shooting: officials

A shooting on Christmas Day left a 13-year-old girl dead and another teen facing charges, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened at a home off Okada Court, according to reports by NBC affiliate WESH. Deputies arrived at the residence after receiving reports of someone being shot.

A girl, 13-year-old Emony Nicole Jackson, was taken to a nearby hospital and later died from her injuries.

The sheriff’s office said a 15-year-old came up to deputies while they were at the home and told them he was responsible for the shooting and that it was an accident.

Details regarding how the shooting happened were not immediately available.

The teen was taken into custody on a manslaughter charge, according to authorities.

The incident followed multiple other shootings over the holidays in Central Florida, two of which resulted in the deaths of 17-year-olds, according to WESH.
