A high-speed dirt bike crash claimed the life of a 39-year-old man on Christmas Day.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office crash report, 39-year-old Joshua Jones was riding a Yamaha dirt bike, which was deemed to be not roadworthy, northbound on Lake Avenue at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred around 5:38 p.m.
At the same time, a woman driving a Dodge Charger was making a turn from southbound Lake Avenue to eastbound E. 4th Street.
As she proceeded through the turn, Jones’s bike collided with the right side of the Charger, the report states.
The impact reportedly sent Jones off his bike and he landed just north of the intersection.
Officials confirmed Jones’s death at 6:38 p.m. and have notified his next of kin.
