Pinellas County deputy, driver injured in crash on US-19

Two people were injured, including a Pinellas County sheriff’s deputy, after a crash on U.S.-19 on Tuesday morning.

The deputy was responding to an assault and battery in progress call in the area of Twin Lakes Apartments Road and U.S.-19 North when the crash happened, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The deputy’s cruiser was parked and unoccupied when it was hit by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The deputy was also transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and has been released.
