Marion woman sues ALDI over alleged head injury from slip-and-fall

Marion woman sues ALDI over alleged head injury from slip-and-fall

A local woman claims she sustained serious injuries to her head after she slipped and fell on a liquid substance while she was shopping at an ALDI in Marion County.

Attorneys representing Robin Joy Bednarcik filed the lawsuit against ALDI Inc. on December 12 in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County.

The incident allegedly occurred on February 5, at the ALDI located at 11223 N. Williams St., Ste O, in Dunnellon.

According to the complaint, Bednarcik, who lives in Marion County, was shopping at the store when she slipped on “debris, liquid, or other substances” that allegedly accumulated on the floor. The filing states that the fall caused her to fall “backwards hard,” resulting in her striking her head on the floor.

Bednarcik’s attorneys argue that ALDI and its employees were negligent in their duties to maintain a safe environment for their customers.

The lawsuit accuses the store of failing to properly clean and dry the floors, failing to inspect the premises for hazardous conditions, and failing to warn customers about the potential danger.

As a result of the fall, Bednarcik claims to have sustained “serious injuries,” including permanent damage, pain, mental anguish, and a loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life.

The complaint also notes that she has incurred medical expenses and a loss of earnings due to her impaired working ability.

Bednarcik is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages, which is the threshold to have the matter heard at the circuit court level.
