One person is dead and another hospitalized after a shooting in Plant City early New Year’s Day, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a home at the 6700 block of West Knights Griffin Road just after 1 a.m. regarding a shooting.

According to HCSO, two family members got into an altercation before the victim was shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, HCSO said.
