Two dogs die during house fire

Firefighters responded Jan. 2 to a residential structure fire in Riverview.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a house on Wild Ginger Street at about 10:18 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported a fire. The first crews on the scene encountered heavy smoke, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Firefighters advanced hose lines into the garage and were able to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.

No one was inside the residence at the time of the fire. Two dogs died as a result of the fire conditions. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
