A 33-year-old Pensacola man was arrested for the two unprovoked attacks of men in their 70s.
SKW was taken into custody Tuesday evening. He’s charged with the following:
- One count of felony battery on a person 65 years of age
- One count of aggravated battery
On Dec. 8., police responded to a reported battery on Baylen Street Parking Garage on Palafox Place
Officers found a 71-year-old man with clear face and head trauma. He told police he did not know his attacker.
Further investigation revealed that a 79-year-old man was also attacked by the same suspect inside the parking garage.
“According to witness statements and surveillance footage, the 79-year-old victim was returning to his vehicle when he encountered an unknown male leaning heavily against his truck,” police say. “The suspect appeared extremely intoxicated — using the truck for balance, falling asleep while standing, and collapsing at one point. When [the 79-year-old man] told the suspect to move along, the suspect confronted him, shoved him multiple times, and forced him to the ground while yelling, ‘Do you want to die?'”
Shortly after, police say the 71-year-old man witnessed the suspect standing over the 79-year-old man as he entered the garage.
“When [the 71-year-old man] attempted to call 911, the suspect left the garage,” police say. “[The 71-year-old man] followed from a distance to provide information to dispatchers. The suspect then turned around and attacked him in a nearby parking lot at 49 W. Intendencia Street, pushing him to the ground and repeatedly striking him in the head and face.”
Police said their injuries were non-life-threatening.
W has no bond at this time, according to police.
