Columbia County Fire Rescue crews saved a pickup truck driver from a precarious situation after the driver’s iPhone sent an automatic crash notification.
On Tuesday night, firefighters say they were notified of a crash on U.S. Highway 441, south of Southwest County Road 240.
The property owner told crews that the pickup veered off the highway, traveled through a fence, and ended up on top of a metal cow pen.
Firefighters safely removed the driver from the vehicle. The patient had minor injuries.
“This incident is another reminder of how technology and rapid response can work together to get help where it is needed,” fire rescue officials stated. “We appreciate the cooperation of the property owner and are thankful this event did not result in more serious injuries.”
