A four-vehicle crash that shut down State Road A1A for hours left a motorcyclist dead and another seriously injured in Flagler Beach on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 12:19 p.m. on State Road A1A at South 26th Street.
The crash involved a GMC Sierra pickup truck, a Tri Glide Harley Davidson motorcycle, an Electra Glide Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Freightliner propane truck, according to a crash report.
Troopers said the propane truck and both motorcycles came to a stop in the northbound lane of S.R. A1A. The pickup truck, which was pulling a concrete pump, failed to slow and stop behind the motorcycles. As a result, the pickup truck struck the Tri Glide motorcycle. The Tri Glide then struck the Electra Glide and rider.
The pickup truck then struck the back of the propane truck, according to the FHP.
The driver of the Tri Glide, identified as an 80-year-old Palm Coast man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Electra Glide, identified as a 58-year-old Ormond Beach man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The road is now back open.
The crash remains under investigation.
