Driver dies after crash, car fire on Don Shula Expressway

A driver has died after a crash and car fire Sunday night on the Don Shula Expressway, authorities confirmed.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho, the crash occurred on the northbound lanes, near the Snapper Creek Expressway.

Camacho said the driver of an Infiniti sedan struck a guardrail, causing the driver to be ejected from the vehicle.

The car erupted in flames after the crash and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said northbound lanes were temporarily closed during the investigation.

The driver’s identity has not been released.
