Motorcyclist loses control, dies in Westside crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a Monday afternoon crash on Jacksonville’s westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said a man in his 50s was headed north on Manning Cemetery Road, just off Normandy Boulevard, around 5 p.m, when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and crashed.

Paramedics responded and took the man to the hospital, where he died.

JSO said speed did not appear to be a factor. It’s unclear if he was wearing a helmet.

This makes the 12th traffic fatality in Jacksonville, and the 2nd motorcyclist involved.
