A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself in Fort Myers on Sunday.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department, the boy shot himself after an accidental discharge of a firearm.
FMPD confirmed that the Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating the incident, as it is not known at this time how the 14-year-old came to be in possession of the gun.
FMPD said the boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
