Miami-Dade deputies are investigating after a suspected DUI crash damaged a federal building in Northwest Miami-Dade on Thursday evening.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:40 p.m. to a reported assault in a parking lot at the USCIS Miami Field Office, located at 8801 NW 7th Ave.
When deputies arrived, they approached a man sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and asked him to step out, authorities said.
The man refused and instead drove off at a high rate of speed through the parking lot before crashing into the building, breaking windows and causing other damage.
Officials said the driver was evaluated at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and was then taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details were immediately available.
