Pedestrian hit, killed by car in Nassau County crash

A pedestrian is dead after a Saturday night crash in Nassau County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it happened on State Road 200 near Griffin Road, east of Callahan.

The victim, a 41-year-old Allendale, Michigan man, was walking in the left westbound travel lane just after 8 p.m., according to the FHP report. Traveling the same way in the same lane was an SUV driven by a Hilliard man, which struck the pedestrian.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, FHP said. The driver was uninjured.

All westbound lanes were temporarily shut down as officials investigated.
