A firefighter was hospitalized while battling a house fire in Lutz on Monday evening, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.
The call came in just after 4:30 p.m., and crews were dispatched to a home on Berger Road.
First responders saw a large column of smoke coming from the home before they even arrived on scene, and were met with a blazing fire.
While the cause is still under investigation, HCFR said the fire started in the garage and spread to the attic.
A limited water supply and no nearby fire hydrants complicated the efforts to contain the flames, and crews had to rely on water tankers.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, HCFR said, though they didn’t provide any details about the cause of the injury.
As of 6:30 p.m., crews were still on scene extinguishing hot spots.
