BSO deputy, 2 others hurt in crash that shut down Tamarac intersection

A Broward sheriff’s deputy and two other people were rushed to the hospital after a major crash in Tamarac late Monday night that shut down the intersection, according to authorities.

It happened just before midnight near Northwest 31st Avenue and West Prospect Road, just west of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

Video shows the BSO cruiser crumpled and the front airbags deployed. Another vehicle involved is flipped on its side against a pole.

A witness at a nearby 7-Eleven said he heard cars zooming through the street before the loud boom of the crash.

“Anything could happen at this time of night,” he said. “Me and the customer was checking outside to make sure if anybody was OK.”

Tamarac Fire Rescue said three people were taken to the hospital, including a deputy. The extent of their injuries and what caused the crash was not immediately provided.

A tow truck picked up both vehicles at around 6:45 a.m.
