Port Charlotte man arrested after mail carrier attacked

Port Charlotte man arrested after mail carrier attacked

On Friday morning, a USPS worker was reportedly attacked while delivering mail at the Oaks 3 and 4 condominium on Quesada Avenue in Port Charlotte, leading to an arrest for burglary with assault.

An affidavit states that AM told deputies the mail carrier had asked his wife not to smoke near her car and was rude. Charlotte County deputies reported that M was accused of putting his head and arms through the mail car window, grabbing the mail carrier’s arms, and shaking her while yelling, “What’s your name? I’m going to make a report.”

M claimed to deputies that he was run over on purpose. The mail carrier said she did not hit him, but drove away, frightened to find a safe place to call 911 when M was accused of reaching inside the car. Neighbors told deputies M fell because his arms were inside her car, and after falling, he got up and ran after the car.

M was checked out at the hospital and then taken to the Charlotte County Jail on a burglary with assault charge. The mail carrier was not injured.
