Two men die in single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Boynton Beach

Two men died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Boynton Beach early Sunday, which closed all northbound lanes for a few hours.

The crash was reported at 5:47 a.m. north of Boynton Beach Boulevard. Traffic was rerouted at Boynton Beach Boulevard.

Killed were the driver, a 31-year-old Lake Worth man, and his 38-year-old passenger from Boynton Beach, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The white Chevy Trailblazer SUV was traveling north in the inside lane.

From skid marks on the roadway, FHP said it would appear that the SUV had traveled partially into the left shoulder before the driver took evasive action by abruptly maneuvering back into the inside lane.

This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then traveled into the right shoulder, where the front right side collided with the metal guardrail face, FHP said.

The SUV then began to overturn.

The passenger was ejected and came to rest on the roadway just south of the vehicle.

The driver, who was entrapped in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at Delray Medical Center.
