Fatal crash in Fort Pierce leaves one dead, two seriously injured

The Fort Pierce Police Department is investigating a deadly two‑vehicle crash that happened late Friday night at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and South 35th Street.

According to investigators, the collision occurred shortly after 10 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado attempted to turn left onto South 35th Street. As the truck entered the intersection, it was hit by an eastbound Dodge Charger that officers say was traveling at a high speed, Fort Pierce police said.

The passenger in the Silverado was ejected and taken to nearby LHCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital with critical injuries and later died.

Both drivers also went to Lawnwood as trauma alerts, where they remain in serious condition.

St. Lucie Fire District said two required extrication with hydraulic equipment.

Detectives continue to investigate what led up to the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward.
