Two pedestrians were reportedly struck hours apart on U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce on Sunday, leaving one dead and another critical.
The first crash happened around 7 p.m. on the 2100 block of U.S. Highway 1 near Virginia Avenue, according to the Fort Pierce Police Department.
Crash investigators say a man driving an Infiniti was heading northbound on the highway when another man attempted to cross the highway from west to east outside of the designated crosswalk.
The pedestrian was subsequently struck by the vehicle, and officers say the driver cooperated and remained at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
