Pickup truck slams into guardrail on I-275 after driver’s medical emergency, Florida Highway Patrol says

A pickup truck driver suffered a medical episode and crashed into a car, then a guardrail on I-275 in Tampa, officials say.

The Florida Highway Patrol said this happened at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, where I-275 feeds into I-4 eastbound.

FHP says a 65-year-old Clearwater man driving a Chevy pickup truck hit a car in front of him, then the guardrail several times before becoming wedged between two traffic barriers.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The other person involved in the crash was a 21-year-old woman driving a Mazda SUV, who was not hurt and able to safely stop her vehicle.
