Man, dog rescued from burning home in Tarpon Springs

A man is in critical condition after a fire in Tarpon Springs Thursday night.

According to Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue, crews responded to a home at 609 River Village Drive around 9:35 p.m. with calls of one person trapped inside.

Crews arrived at a mobile home and saw heavy smoke. TSFR got into the home and found a 73-year-old man on the couch in the living room.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in critical condition.

TSFR extinguished the kitchen fire and rescued a dog found in the bedroom. The dog was treated at the scene before being transported to the emergency vet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
