1 pedestrian killed, 2 others hurt in crash near Sawgrass Mills

 Authorities investigated a deadly crash near the Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 1:45 p.m. at Yellow Toucan Road and Sunrise Boulevard, near the mall’s southwestern entrance.

A spokesperson for the Sunrise Police Department said that a “vehicle struck three pedestrians,” injuring two and killing one.

The two surviving pedestrians were taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

Video from Sky 10 showed a blue pickup truck in the intersection with heavy front-end damage and a body covered in a white tarp.

Authorities haven’t identified those involved or said whether the driver would be cited or charged.

The SPD spokesperson said that the “incident remains under investigation” as of around 3:30 p.m.
