A Leesburg woman struck and killed a pedestrian who stepped into the path of her vehicle in Pasco County.

The 28-year-old driver of a Nissan Altima was headed southbound on Dairy Road in heavy fog around 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. North of Market Square Drive, a 78-year-old male pedestrian from Zephyrhills stepped out to cross the highway.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries suffered in the accident.
