80-year-old woman killed, man injured when struck by pickup in Orange County

An 80-year-old Orlando woman was killed and a man was injured Friday when they were struck by a pickup truck in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 12:06 p.m. on Goldenrod Road and Quail Pond Street.

According to a crash report, a 2017 RAM 1500 with a trailer was heading south on Goldenrod Road and attempted a left turn onto Quail Pond Street. The two pedestrians, the Orlando woman and an 84-year-old Orlando man, were walking across Quail Pond Street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by the pickup, the report said.

The two pedestrians were taken to the hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead, according to troopers.

Northbound lanes are blocked on Goldenrod Road at Quail Pond Street.

An investigation is ongoing.
