A wind-driven fire tore through a home in Port St. Lucie Friday afternoon, challenging firefighters as they worked to contain the blaze.

At 1:33 p.m., units from the St. Lucie County Fire District say they were called to the Alhombra South neighborhood to find the home already heavily involved in flames.

Firefighters say winds exceeding 10 mph helped drive the fire and complicated containment efforts.

One homeowner was reportedly treated for minor injuries but declined transport to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to the occupant displaced by the fire.

Fire officials say the cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office, and no further details have been released at this time.
