Woman accused of killing roommate following argument in Punta Gorda

Woman accused of killing roommate following argument in Punta Gorda

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman accused of murdering her roommate in Punta Gorda.

Deputies arrested SRG, 48, on Monday after initially responding to a person not breathing report at a residence on Gewant Boulevard on Sunday.

Upon arrival, deputies found a man, identified as PDWB, 76, deceased and “beyond help.”

WINK News was at the scene, where our reporters found a body being removed from the home and placed in a medical examiner’s van at around 8 a.m. on Monday.

PD was at a friend’s house Sunday night when his mother told him there was a death investigation happening next door.

“It was very shocking. There’s been nothing like that I’ve ever seen,” said Daigle. “It was just a little bit of tape up outta the house, and then during the night it started to get more serious, more police, news, everybody came.”

According to deputies, B’s vehicle was missing from the driveway. Through investigative measures with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, they found that his vehicle was driven to Sarasota County.

Law enforcement found G driving the vehicle. She was detained by deputies.

G, who was B’s roommate, was identified as a suspect in the sheriff’s office’s investigation.

Upon interviewing G, Charlotte County deputies reported that she provided a confession to stabbing B following an argument.

After realizing that the victim was beyond help, G then covered B with a tarp and left the scene in his pickup truck.

Following her confession, G was placed under arrest and charged with non-premeditated murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

She is being held without bond.
