Two people were taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle near the beach entrance on South Atlantic and 27th avenues in New Smyrna Beach.
There is a roadblock on Atlantic Avenue.
The City of New Smyrna Beach said a Public Works employee was involved in the crash.
The employee was traveling eastbound on 27th Avenue and turning left onto South Atlantic Avenue when the vehicle struck two pedestrians who were in the crosswalk.
“Emergency crews arrived quickly, and the individuals involved were transported for medical treatment. The Florida Highway Patrol is responding to conduct a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash,” the city said. “The City of New Smyrna Beach is cooperating fully with FHP and will support their investigation in every way possible. Our thoughts are with the individuals who were injured, their families, and everyone affected by this incident.”
