Early morning house fire sends one to Sarasota hospital

One person has been hospitalized after an early morning house fire Monday in Sarasota.

Heavy smoke from the home in the 6000 block of Brentford Road could be seen from I-75.

Eleven fire units responded to the blaze. One person in the home at the time managed to get out before firefighters arrived.

They were taken to a local hospital. The victim’s condition has not been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
