Pedestrian fatally struck by Brightline train in Deerfield Beach

One person has died following a collision between a Brightline train and a pedestrian.

It happened on Monday at approximately 9:12 p.m. in the area of Northeast Eller Street and Second Avenue in Deerfield Beach.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to the scene with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews and found a person who had been hit by the train.

First responders pronounced that person deceased at the scene, authorities said.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the fatal collision.

Authorities have not yet publicly identified the person who was killed.
