A chain-reaction crash near a convenience store in Escambia County sent a 26-year-old man to the hospital Saturday afternoon after a pickup truck plowed into multiple vehicles and a food truck on Saturday.
Troopers say the crash happened at 1:11 p.m. at County Road 95A and Tate School Road, near the Speed Mart convenience store at 1800 U.S. Highway 29.
A silver Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound on County Road 95A behind a black Chevrolet Silverado when the Ram’s driver failed to slow down and struck the rear of the Silverado, according to FHP.
Troopers say after the initial impact, the Ram was redirected into the parking lot just north of the convenience store, where Frontera’s Taco and a Mexican food truck were located.
A Honda Civic and a Honda Odyssey were parked and unoccupied in the lot, and the Ram struck both vehicles, according to FHP.
Tropers say the Ram then continued forward and hit the food truck, injuring one of its occupants, a 26-year-old man, before striking a utility pole and coming to a stop.
The Ram’s driver, a 46-year-old Flomaton man, was taken to an area hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. He was cited for careless driving, failure to utilize his seat belt, and no motor vehicle registration.
