A woman died Monday morning after her car struck a wooden pole on Edgewood Avenue North, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Officials said at around 5:50 a.m., a woman in her mid-40s was driving a Chevrolet Equinox south on Edgewood when the car drifted off the roadway and struck a wooden JEA pole.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue said the woman died at the scene, and a male passenger in his early 40s was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
JSO said this is the 57th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2026.
