A 25-year-old woman died at the hospital Monday after the SUV she was driving hit a fence and a tree in Macclenny, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a 23-year-old Jacksonville woman riding in the SUV suffered serious injuries.
According to the crash report, the SUV was headed south on North Lowder Street near Constitution Place just after 4 p.m. Monday when it traveled onto the east shoulder, hitting the fence and a tree.
The 25-year-old driver, who is from Macclenny, died at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, troopers said.
Both women were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
Troopers are still investigating what caused the SUV to leave the roadway.
