The Florida Highway Patrol said the 20-year-old driver had been traveling at a “high rate of speed” shortly before the crash, which happened just south of Republic Drive in Pinellas County.
The driver was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries, according to officials. There was no further word on his condition as of Tuesday night.
No other injuries were reported.
