Deputies: Fort Walton Beach woman threw beer bottles at 3-year-old after falling off bike

A Fort Walton Beach woman is charged for throwing beer bottles at a 3-year-old boy who went to check on her after she fell off her bike, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

C M is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The incident happened Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Circle Drive after M reportedly fell off her bike.

“According to witness statements, a three-year old child approached M in an apparent attempt to check on her well-being, but M picked up two beer bottles and threw them in the child’s direction,” the sheriff’s office says. “Witnesses say the bottles were thrown with enough force that had the child not ducked, he could have been struck in the head.”

The boy’s parents witnessed the incident, as well as other nearby residents who all told deputies the same account of events, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Deputies say during their contact with M she was unable to provide a coherent explanation for her actions, stating only she believed she was being attacked,” the sheriff’s office says.

M suffered a minor finger injury consistent with falling from a bicycle.

The child was not injured.

No further details were released.
