1 dead after small plane crashes in Pasco County neighborhood

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said at least one person is dead after a small, two-engine plane crashed in a Wesley Chapel neighborhood.

The crash happened at around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday in the Grand Oaks subdivision on Aldus Drive.

The plane caught fire after crashing, but Pasco County Fire Rescue said the blaze had been extinguished by around 9:30 a.m.

At least one nearby home sustained damage in the crash and subsequent fire, PCFR said.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft, a Cessna C402, departed from Tampa North Aero Park. The pilot was the only person on board.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash. The current circumstances of the crash are unknown.

Officials ask that anyone who witnessed the crash or has surveillance video or other relevant information contact the NTSB at witness@ntsb.gov.
