Crews battled three boat fires off of Bokeelia on Friday afternoon.
Water could be seen being sprayed onto the boats as the fire sent plumes of dark smoke into the sky. This was near Jug Creek Marina.
“It was absolutely jaw dropping , it was amazing,” Joy Ziss said. “One boat was involved and after a minute two boats were on fire.”
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the incident involved a cabin cruiser and two pontoon-style boats.
The boats were presumed to be unoccupied, and there were no reported injuries, FWC said.
“It absolutely scares me to death and it made me sick today, literally sick,” Joy Ziss said.
An investigation will determine if the incident was a boat accident or a fire.
