Child dies in Bradford County camper fire; sheriff’s deputies say

TV20 has confirmed a child was killed Tuesday morning after a camper caught fire in Bradford County.

Bradford County Fire Rescue crews say they responded to reports of a camper fire on the 12000 block of Southwest 84th Avenue, southwest of Starke, just after 9:30 a.m.

Firefighters say flames had completely consumed the camper when they arrived. Inside, they found the body of a child, which has not been officially identified as of this report.

Bradford County Sheriff’s Office officials say an unaccounted for 11-year-old boy was out sick from school and was staying home alone at the time of the fire.

The Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

This developing story will be updated as more information is learned.
