1 dead after crash involving pickup truck and motorcycle in Port Charlotte

A person was killed in a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle in Port Charlotte Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said in a press release that a Dodge Ram pickup truck was facing north on Harbor Boulevard at Veterans Boulevard. The driver, a 69-year-old man from Port Charlotte, was stopped at the posted stop sign.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 66-year-old-man from Port Charlotte, was traveling east on Veterans Boulevard, approaching Harbor Bouelavrd.

The truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle collided with the truck.

The motorcycle driver sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The pickup driver sustained minor injuries. FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
