Two men were airlifted to a trauma center after a violent rollover crash involving two vehicles Monday afternoon in western Palm Beach County, according to authorities.
The crash happened near the intersection of Hamlin Boulevard and Mandarin Boulevard in the Loxahatchee area. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue initially said two people suffered critical injuries and were flown by Trauma Hawk helicopters to a trauma center after one of the vehicles overturned and at least one person was ejected from the wreckage.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office crash report, a 2018 Audi A4 traveling northbound on Mandarin Boulevard stopped at the stop sign before proceeding into the intersection, where it collided with a westbound 2000 Toyota 4Runner on Hamlin Boulevard. Investigators said the Audi driver’s view was obstructed by vegetation and large power control boxes, preventing her from seeing the approaching SUV.
Deputies said the impact caused the Toyota to veer northwest and overturn several times before coming to rest southwest of the crash site. The driver of the SUV was ejected during the rollover.
PBSO identified the Audi driver as 17-year-old A of Loxahatchee. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Palms West Hospital, according to the report.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as 32-year-old C of Loxahatchee, while the passenger was identified as 31-year-old E of West Palm Beach. Both men suffered serious injuries and were transported from the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue before being airlifted to a trauma center, authorities said. Investigators noted neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
