A man is now under arrest, weeks after a late-night shooting outside a Boca Raton restaurant left two people hurt.
The Boca Raton Police Department announced on Thursday that an arrest was made after a shooting unfolded just after 12:30 a.m. on May 25 outside The Standard Cuisine & Cocktails on Southeast Mizner Boulevard. At the time, officers were called out for reports of gunfire, finding two victims with gunshot wounds and a suspect who had already run off.
Investigators now say that the suspect is 24-year-old C from Lantana.
According to police, what started as a verbal argument outside the restaurant quickly turned violent. Witnesses told detectives that C and one of the victims knew each other and got into a confrontation shortly before the shooting.
Police say C pulled a gun from his waistband and fired two shots. One of those rounds hit the man he had been arguing with in the chest. The other struck a person inside the restaurant, hitting them in the leg.
Both victims were rushed to the hospital. The man shot in the chest is now stable, while the second victim was treated and later released, according to the news release.
After the shooting, detectives had to piece together what happened. They reviewed surveillance video from nearby businesses, collected shell casings from the scene, and interviewed multiple witnesses.
That evidence helped investigators track the suspect’s movements before and after the gunfire, and several people later identified C as the shooter, according to police.
An arrest warrant was eventually issued, and C was taken into custody late June 3, police said.
He’s now facing two counts of second-degree attempted murder with a firearm, along with a charge of shooting into an occupied dwelling. Police say he remains in the Palm Beach County Jail as the case moves forward.
