Driver unaccounted for after stolen car crashes into St. Pete home, catching it on fire: SPFR

Officers are searching for the person who crashed their vehicle into a house, causing it to catch on fire, the St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said.

SPFR responded to a vehicle crash into a home on the 4400 block of 14 Avenue South in St. Pete around 3 a.m.

According to SPFR, two people were inside the home and were uninjured.

The house fire was extinguished in about 10 to 15 minutes.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a Honda Accord crashed into the home, causing significant structural damage to the home.

Officers said the vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from the 2100 block of 9th Avenue South.

The driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot and is at large.
