Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 231 near Lindsey Crossing on Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say a Tesla and a Chevrolet Tahoe were both traveling south on Highway 231 when the Tesla attempted to pass the Tahoe. During the maneuver, the Tesla struck the Tahoe, causing it to spin across the grassy median.
The Tesla then crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with a Cadillac Escalade.
The Tahoe came to rest in the median, the Escalade overturned and landed on its roof, and the Tesla stopped on the east shoulder of the highway.
FHP says the driver and passenger in the Tesla both died.
The driver of the Tahoe was not injured and was the only person in the vehicle.
The Escalade driver and two passengers suffered minor injuries. A third passenger was seriously injured.
