One person was killed and two others were seriously hurt in a fiery head-on crash on Orange Avenue in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on the Orange Avenue overpass near Wetherbee Road.
According to FHP, a 26-year-old driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on Orange Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes.
The Impala then collided head-on with a 2012 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 61-year-old Kissimmee man. A 33-year-old man was riding as a passenger in the 4Runner.
After the impact, both vehicles became partially engulfed in flames, troopers said.
The Impala driver was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center. The driver and passenger of the 4Runner were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
FHP said the 61-year-old 4Runner driver later died from his injuries. The conditions of the Impala driver and the 33-year-old passenger have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Orange Avenue overpass at Wetherbee Road remains closed. Drivers are being detoured to Boggy Creek Road.
