Firefighters battle 75-acre brush fire in Martin County

Martin County firefighters are battling a 75-acre brush fire near the Lakeside Ranch Stormwater Treatment Area of the South Florida Water Management District.

Firefighters said the fire started just before 6 p.m. Tuesday near County Road 15B and State Road 710, west of Indiantown. Video from the scene shows flames burning as large plumes of smoke billow into the air.

The Florida Forest Service is en route to the scene, and there is no threat to nearby structures.

Martin County Fire Rescue urged drivers to avoid the area and expect smoky conditions.
