Fatal ATV crash in Gulf County

One child is dead Wednesday following an ATV crash in Gulf County involving three children, according to the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at approximately 10:40 a.m. to a crash on private property north of Wewahitchka, off State Road 71. All three children were transported to a local hospital, where one did not survive.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is now leading the investigation.

Wewahitchka High School announced they will be open on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. for students who would like support during this difficult time. Certified mental health professionals will also be available.
