3 injured in crash that closed US-19 in Tarpon Springs

Southbound lanes of US-19 are now open after a crash early Tuesday morning.

The Tarpon Springs Police Department responded to a crash involving two vehicles around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Tarpon Avenue and US Highway 19 North.

According to officers, three people inside a 2022 red Hyundai sedan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

It is unclear if anyone in the 2010 Chevrolet SUV was injured.

According to TSPD, the department’s traffic homicide unit responded to the crash and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Investigators have not identified the driver of the Hyundai due to conflicting statements given during the investigation.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken with investigators to call Detective Hurley at 727-938-2849.
