An 18-wheeler caught fire early Thursday on Interstate 10 in Escambia County, forcing the driver to stop on a bridge and leaving damage behind.

Troopers say the incident happened at 12:24 a.m. near mile marker 17 on Interstate 10/State Road 8.

An 18-wheeler traveling east caught fire and came to a stop on the bridge, according to FHP.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Mexico City, was not injured.

The fire burned hot enough to damage the concrete barrier on the bridge.
